SAMPLE SALE - Wild Tracks

Bear paws, but make it a sunset.

This is the Wild Tracks sample — my own pattern, pieced and finished by me, the actual quilt from the pattern photos. One of one. There is not another one of these.

Wild Tracks takes the old-school Bear Paw block and lets it off the leash: blocks in wildly different sizes, scattered across the quilt instead of marched into a grid, some huge and lounging, some small and darting off toward a corner. It genuinely looks like something walked across it.

The color run:

It moves. Sunny lemon and gold at the top, sliding down through marigold, tangerine and warm orange, into coral and peach, then blush and bubblegum, then hot pink, magenta, and a deep berry purple at the bottom edge. A full rainbow that skips the cool half entirely and just commits to being warm and loud and joyful about it.

Every paw is a different print, so there's a lot to find up close — tiny stars, scattered florals, ditsy dots, gingham, and if you look really close at one of the coral blocks, a scatter of tiny white anchors. Nobody planned that. It's my favorite thing in the quilt.

All of it sits on a soft white speckled background flecked with tiny multicolor dots, which keeps the negative space from ever going boring.

The finishing:

Quilted edge to edge in a big feathery floral that fills the white space beautifully — you feel it more than you see it until the light hits. Backed in a moody blue and violet watercolor floral, which is a completely different mood from the front and makes it feel like two quilts in one. Bound in navy with a whisper of white dots to pull it all together.

Why this one:

• Big. 72" x 84" — a real, generous quilt. Covers a person completely, covers a bed properly.
• Already finished. Bound, quilted, washed and ready. No December-of-your-life sewing marathon.
• One of a kind — the actual sample, and the fabrics that made it are long gone

• Reversible in spirit: warm rainbow on one side, cool watercolor on the other

• Quilting: allover edge-to-edge feathered floral
• Binding: navy with white dots, hand stitched
• Care: machine wash cold, gentle cycle, tumble dry low. It'll crinkle beautifully.
