Twenty fat quarters that solve the problem every rainbow quilt eventually runs into: you have the hues, but you do not have the values.

Pulsar is Alison Glass's Handcrafted batik line, and the surface is a fine scatter of irregular marks over saturated ground. Close up it reads as texture. At piecing distance it reads as a solid that happens to be alive. That is the useful part. You get the graphic clarity of a solid, where shapes stay crisp and seams stay legible, without the flatness that makes a large solid area feel like a hole in the quilt.

The bundle runs the full spectrum and then keeps going into the places most rainbow bundles skip. There is a true light range, a set of genuine darks, and neutrals at both ends including cream, grey, and black. So when a block needs one more step between your medium teal and your dark teal, the step is in the stack.

Batiks also behave differently under the needle than screen printed cotton. The weave is tighter, which means crisp points, less fraying on bias edges, and pieces that hold their shape through a lot of handling. The Handcrafted line runs a touch lighter in weight than Alison Glass's printed cottons, so it presses flat and works for garments as readily as quilts.

Good for gradient layouts, value studies, foundation piecing where accuracy matters, and any pattern that asks for a lot of distinct fabrics reading as one family.
